On 30 July 2025, within the framework of the Consultation Workshop on the Master Plan for Low-Emission Crop Production for the Period 2025 – 2030, chaired by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, SNV Netherlands Development Organisation – the Project Manager of "Transforming the Rice Value Chain for Climate Resilient and Sustainable Development in the Mekong Delta" (TRVC Project) was proudly selected as one of six organizations to showcase the products representing low-emission crop value chains.

The TRVC’s presence at the event highlights its efforts to promote a transformation to low-carbon and climate-resilient rice production practices, aiming to strengthen adaptation to climate change and foster sustainable rice cultivation. The project’s objectives are also aligned with enhancing the value of agricultural products and strengthening international competitiveness, in line with the core targets of the Government of Vietnam’s forthcoming Master Plan for Low-Emission Crop Production for the period 2025–2030.

At the exhibition, the rice products branded as “Vietnam Green – Low-Emission Rice”, produced by the Rice Value Chain Companies participating in the TRVC Project (known as Competitors) during the first crop season (Summer–Autumn 2024) and certified by the Vietnam Rice Industry Sector Association (VIETRISA), were showcased. This serves as tangible evidence on the feasibility of implementing large-scale, high-quality, low-emission rice production through value chain collaboration models between private companies and smallholder farmers, thereby achieving the multi-goals of economic, social, and environmental results.

The “Vietnam Green – Low-Emission Rice” certification was first introduced by VIETRISA in April 2025, with eight Competitors of the TRVC Project being the first companies awarded this certification. The recognition was granted based on the independent verification conducted by Regrow Agriculture Inc. during the Summer–Autumn 2024 crop season. The certification process included the assessment of economic, environmental, and social impacts. Mr. Bui Ba Bong, Chairman of VIETRISA, said that “Vietnam Green – Low-Emission Rice” certification is not merely a commercial label, but also lays a strong commitment to environmental and social responsibility by rice-producing companies in Vietnam.

SNV - the Project Manager of the TRVC Project sincerely appreciated the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, Ministry of Agriculture & Environment, for their trust and support in enabling the Project’s participation in the exhibition at the Workshop. This meaningful event marks an important milestone, recognizing the practical contributions of the TRVC Project and its Competitors in initiating rice production models toward low-emission, sustainable, and climate-resilient practices. These efforts directly contribute to the implementation of the Vietnamese Government’s Program on “Sustainable development of 01 million hectares for specialized farming of rice with high quality and low emission associated with green growth of the Mekong Delta by 2030”

In the upcoming seasons, the TRVC Project will continue to boost its implementation effectiveness, expand the participation of Competitors and cooperatives, and further scale up the project’s activities to a larger number of smallholder farming households. The Project is also committed to strengthening coordination with government authorities and local partners to achieve integrated economic, environmental, and social results through the development of a low-emission rice value chain, thereby contributing to Vietnam’s national target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, as outlined in the Vietnamese Government’s master plan.
