SNV - the TRVC Project Manager extends our heartfelt congratulations to all companies participating in the Summer – Autumn Crop 2024 (Crop 1) under the TRVC Project. The dedication and collaboration between companies and their partnering farmers have yielded remarkable economic, social, and environmental outcomes.
By adopting sustainable rice production practices, the rice cultivated by farming households associated with TRVC's companies this season has achieved lower emissions compared to conventional farming methods. In terms of economic efficiency, the average profit margins for farming households were 64% in Dong Thap, 56% in An Giang, and 54% in Kien Giang. Regarding environmental impact, the total reduction in emissions was 27,161.98 tons of CO2 equivalent. In terms of social impact, 100% of competitors have integrated policies and implemented measures to ensure gender equality, disability, and social inclusion within their organizations and across the value chains in the three project provinces. This demonstrates the commitment and leadership of these companies in fostering production linkages with rice-farming households, enabled by the timely coordination and support of the Project Management Units in Dong Thap, An Giang, and Kien Giang.
These results are significant and contribute to the transition toward low-emission rice production systems, supporting the goals of the One Million Hectares of High-Quality, Low-Emission Rice Program for the Mekong Delta. Furthermore, the efforts of the companies participating in the TRVC Project directly contribute to global climate change mitigation and align with key international targets, including limiting global warming to 1.5°C and reducing methane emissions by 30% by 2030, as committed by the Government of Vietnam at COP 26.
In recognition of these contributions, we are pleased to announce the awards for Crop 1, with a total value of up to 200,000 AUD for all eight companies participating in the Project this season. In December 2024, SNV will transfer the prize funds to the awarded companies.
